Art & Sherry Lutes​

Art and Sherry Lutes both came to Bakersfield after being born in Southern California. Their children Brian and Cheryl attended West High from 1980 through 1987. Art and Sherry were heavily involved in Boosters Club supporting Bingo nights and organizing other fundraisers.

Art donated a great deal of electrical labor, skill and materials for the West High sports teams, including running electrical wiring to the football field scoreboard, running power from the gym to the football field, snack bar and ticket booth. He also ran power to the softball snack bar. 

Art and Sherry were integral participants in the group of community members who built the softball dugouts and obtained/transported bleachers to the visitor’s side of the football field and the baseball field.

Actively participating in their children’s sporting activities, Art and Sherry were able to meet a variety of wonderful people; many of those people became life-long friends and those friendships continue today.  

Throughout their retirement years they are very active in many golf organizations and developed an additional network of friends. Art and Sherry have organized several horseshoe tournaments, golf tournaments, and outings. Both currently live in Kern City in Bakersfield CA.
