Chris CravenChris Craven, born 1955, raised in Bakersfield California and currently lives in Granbury Texas with my wife Debbie.
Chris attended West High from 1969 to 1973 and returned as a staff member in the Special Education Department in 1980. Chris was hired as the 3rd varsity baseball coach in the West High history, coaching the Vikings from 1980 until 1995. As a student at West High, Chris played 2 years of varsity football earning all-league honors his senior year. Additionally, Chris played one year of varsity basketball and two years of varsity baseball, where he was all league his senior year as well as MVP of the team. Chris was also the co-recipient of the Sam Lynn award for outstanding senior athlete as well as being in the National Honor Society. After graduation, Chris attended Bakersfield College, starting 2 years at wide receiver for the Renegade football team and 2 years as a starting outfielder for the Gades baseball team, earning first team all Metropolitan Conference and first team all-Southern California while leading the league in hitting. Chris finished college at California State University at Northridge where he played football and baseball for 2 years graduating in 1977. Chris continued to teach and coach in Bakersfield, for many years after his time at West High, winning championships and positively influencing the lives of multitudes, over his career. |
